Sunday School Lessons for Teenagers 2026 is an interactive, 52-week Christian education manual prepared by the Christian Education Department and published by the Publications Department of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Ibadan. Adapted from the International Sunday School Lessons Uniform Series and aligned with the 2026 NBC annual theme—"Entering into Newness through the Fruit and Gifts of the Spirit" (Acts 1:8)—the book is designed to help teenagers study the Bible personally and in small groups (churches, schools, fellowships, and homes), discover scriptural truths for themselves, and mature spiritually.
Each weekly lesson follows a standardized pedagogical framework built around alliterative "P" sections to engage both teachers and teenage learners:
Topic, Background Scripture, Pivotal Passage (PP) & Pivotal Verse: States the lesson title, broader biblical context, core text for class study, and the memory verse (equivalent to the "Golden Text" in adult manuals).
Preparation Points: A "MUST READ, MUST DO" checklist for Sunday school teachers outlining advance research, classroom management tips, and role-play or media setups to keep discussions focused and orderly.
Pointers: Specific, measurable, achievable, and realistic learning objectives for the teacher's preparation and evaluation (not meant to be read aloud to the class).
Peep: A participatory introductory icebreaker—featuring a relatable contemporary story or thought-provoking discussion question—completed before reading the Scripture to capture the teenagers' attention.
Passage Exposition: Historical and theological background providing an overview of the Pivotal Passage.
Plunge: The core interactive Bible study divided into two or three smaller, discussable subtopics, each paired with fill-in-the-blank reflection questions that prompt teenagers to explore the Scripture directly.
Pay Attention: A concise, memorable key takeaway or quote summarizing the core truth of the lesson.
Practicalise: Three actionable weekday assignments helping teenagers apply the lesson to their daily lives, schools, and communities.
Ponder: A personal self-examination prompt answering the question, "What is God saying to me personally?"
Pledge and Promise & Prayer: Space for teenagers to write down a concrete spiritual commitment and personal prayer points based on the lesson.
